Kyle Young
Associate Geologist

Expertise:
Kyle Young, PhD, is a coastal hydrogeologist with academic experience in groundwater physics and hydrologic processes, geophysics consulting, and a supervisory manager of teams, projects, and budgets across numerous disciplines. His expertise in groundwater physics and coastal hydrogeology derives from extensive training and research quantifying submarine groundwater discharge in coastal Rhode Island through groundwater chemical tracer measurement and modeling, and airborne infrared imagery. Dr. Young has significant experience utilizing hydrologic modeling software and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to characterize surface water flows for Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) decision-making. He has additionally assisted numerous project teams in hydrology- and groundwater-related work, ranging from stream gaging and rating curve development, water quality and stable and unstable isotope sampling and analyses, and geophysical subsurface surveys including seismic, electrical resistivity, and electromagnetic (EM) methods.
Dr. Young is a retired Coast Guard Officer with over 20 years of military service, including 10 years as a rescue helicopter pilot and aviation engineer, and 6 years as an associate professor of science and physics at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
