Todd Groundwater Mourns the Loss of
Edwin Lin, Principal Hydrogeologist

With great sadness we inform you of the loss of our Principal Hydrogeologist, Mr. Edwin Lin, PG, CHG, who passed away in November 2020. Our hearts are with his widow, Phoebe Grow, with his daughters, Tasmin and Naomi, and with all his family. Edwin’s capacity for friendships was exceptional and all of us at Todd Groundwater share the loss with his many friends.

Mr. Lin joined Todd Groundwater in 2000 as staff geologist. In 2003, he moved to South Australia, where he attended Flinders University and earned a Master of Science degree in Groundwater Hydrology. He contributed to scientific research, working with Dr. Peter Dillon at the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation on use of stormwater for Aquifer Storage Recovery. In 2006, he returned to Todd Groundwater, serving numerous clients on a wide variety of projects of groundwater development and basin management projects, but with a core interest and expertise in Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR). His work on MAR projects extended across many groundwater basins in California, utilized diverse sources of water, involved multiple techniques and monitoring, and addressed a variety of issues from overdraft to seawater intrusion to optimization of conjunctive use of surface water and groundwater. In 2017 he became a Principal Hydrogeologist at Todd Groundwater recognizing his technical excellence, skilled project management, responsiveness to clients, and his contributions in building Todd Groundwater for the future.

As we mourn this loss, we will honor Edwin’s memory by continuing the technically-excellent and responsive service to clients and projects that he epitomized.

A virtual Memorial Service was held on Sunday, December 13, 2020 and attended by many friends and colleagues.

A fund has been established for Tasmin and Naomi to support their development, activities, and education: https://www.gofundme.com/f/growlin-family-fund
